As the crowds begin to gather today in preparation for the event being held by the NAACP in Manning SC at which Alvin Greene, the democratic nominee for US Senate is scheduled to speak, I wonder how many in attendance are familiar with this:
“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things-and the things that are not-to nullify the things that are” -1Corinthians 1:27,28 NIV
I like many have no personal knowledge of Mr. Greene. I am in no position to determine his intellect nor his capacity or faculties based on the few interviews that he has done. The only ones who know why are Mr. Greene and God. Those who have decided to assess Mr. Greene based on a few interviews or the lack thereof need to remember this:
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven – Luke 6:37 KJV
The rush to judgement of Mr. Greene has been unprecedented. News correspondents and assorted Saturday morning quarterbacks, have all chimed in as to the mental state of Mr. Greene to assert unequivocally that he is mentally impaired based not on conventional methods of assessment. No medical records have surfaced to indicate any type of history and yet because people feel that Mr. Greene is “slow” and doesn’t speak well that he is immediately found wanting and in some deficit. Seems to me that all those talking heads in Washington and on the airwaves haven’t done so much for the public and constituents they serve. The country is in trouble and it wasn’t slow speaking politicians that were on watch when all this happened.
His agenda resonates with the average person. That its simple, three point strategy may just be what the voters want and what this country needs.
